FAQimg_3139

How Much does it cost?
$450 covers the in-person training for either birth or postpartum. This also includes access to the  E-Learning classroom, grading, and certification.  There are never any re-certification or membership fees. Payment plans via PayPal credit (no interest or payments for 60 days) are available.  Please email me directly if you would like to use that option.

When do I need to pay?
You are not considered registered for the workshop until you have made payment. To provide attention to our students we limit the number of attendees so registering early guarantees a spot in the workshop. Paying sooner helps the trainer know what size classroom space to reserve as well as making travel arrangements.

Am I a doula after the weekend?
You will leave the training ready to provide doula support, and many of your assignments toward certification will be completed during the workshop.  At this point, you may charge for your doula services and serve families in home, hospital, and birth centers You will still need to complete the assignments in BAI online classroom in order to be considered a certified doula.

img_3103Do I have to pay extra to have online learning access through Birth Arts?
You never pay extra for the continued education online with Birth Arts International. If you take a workshop with me the online certification process is included.

Can I have access to the online classroom prior to the in-person class?
You are welcome to start reading the book list ahead of the class. You will gain access to the online classroom after our in-person training has been completed. Please contact me if you need access to the book list in advance.

Is Birth Arts International recognized in my state/country?
BAI is an international organization and is recognized as such around the globe. Some states such as Oregon also recognize BAI as one of the qualified organizations for doulas seeking Medicaid reimbursement for their services. You will be able to practice in any home, birth center, or hospital setting that allows doulas. We can also provide you with a certificate of attendance upon request if required for volunteering with hospital-based doula programs.

Do you help us find clients?
This training along with the online classroom supports students and includes assignments to help you run your business. You are independent and finding clients is up to you but we do work hard to support you and help you feel confident and ready so that you know how to go about connecting with clients. BAI does keep a listing of our students who wish to be part of the directory for families seeking BAI doulas.

Why Birth Arts International?
Birth Arts International provides the most in-depth doula training available. BAI believes in supporting and nurturing our doulas and is the only organization that you can call and have the Global Director answer the phone to speak directly to you  We dig below the surface of being a doula and help build you up and deepen your understanding of birth as well as strengthen your confidence in the birth process.   Learn why I chose BAI.

Can I bring my children?
Nursing babies are welcome but I suggest that you have someone to care for your infant between feedings so that you can get the most from the workshop.   It is very interactive and I wouldn’t want you to miss out on the learning opportunity!img_3134

What if I am coming from another organization?
We welcome you and recognize that you have already put a lot of hard work into your path as a doula.   We will work with you on an individual basis after the workshop to take as much of your previous qualifications into consideration toward certifying with Birth Arts International

Do you give refunds?
I understand that life happens and plans change.  While I do not offer a monetary refund. You are welcome to reschedule for a different training with Heathir Brown at a future training date.  These funds do not expire and there is no fee for rescheduling. Heathir is an excellent trainer! I just completed a training with her March 2017 on Maui. We had a great class full of lively discussion, hands on learning and I walked away with more skills in my bag of doula knowledge. I have been a doula for a while and wanted to train with Birth Arts because they are a great support to their trainees and I am not disappointed at all! I am so glad I chose BAI and I look forward to serving my community here on Maui.

I traveled ALL the way to Eugene, Oregon from Nashville, Tennessee to take this course with Heathir and I am SO glad that I did. I have to admit, I was worried that I would travel all that way and be disappointed. Heathir made me feel so comfortable and welcome. She explained things in a way that made sense to me and always left the floor open for questions. If I am ever giving birth in the proximity that Heathir could help me I would call her in a heartbeat. Thank you Heathir for helping me start this journey as a Doula off on a great start. I can't wait to learn, grow, and practice this work with the support of the strong, educated, and wonderful BAI community.

Heathir is an amazing Instructor. She has a good flow of information, one topic flows smoothly into the next. Heathir is easy to speak with and easy to approach with questions. She made the workshop a pleasant atmosphere and a fun learning environment. It was a peer learning setting instead of a student teacher setting. 100% positive!

I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Heathir's BAI labor doula workshop. Heathir is a very knowledgeable and wise doula. She pours out every bit of knowledge that she has attained as doula to her students. Her experience in and compassion for pregnancy and birth shows through her teaching. I'm happy that I had the opportunity to sit under her tutelage. Thank you Heathir for a wonderful experience.

If you ever have the opportunity to attend a workshop with Heathir Brown DO IT!!! After months of feeling "stuck" in my doula training, I decided to invest my time and money and let me tell you, it was worth it. Heathir's workshop was educational, inspiring, and therapeutic. She was patient as I asked every question I could possibly think of, and she answered them all! Heathir has years of experience and knowledge that she is happy to share with her students. After reading my student materials, many books, and attending a birth, I thought I knew a lot about being a doula, but I was WRONG! We covered TONS of information and when it she saw that I was struggling with the postpartum depression part of the training, she offered me a sincere hug and kind words. It's not everyday you find someone so genuinely kind and caring. It's evident that Heathir's work comes from the heart. You'll never make a better investment for yourself and your doula career than a training with Heathir Brown!!!

I attended a workshop with Heathir in October 2016. The information she gave was very in depth but not overwhelming. We did a bunch of hands-on activities to help us to retain the information we learned. We talked, we laughed, we opened up to one another. The workshop definitely exceeded my expectations. Did I mention? Heathir is sooooo sweet! Thank you so much Heathir for being you and for the time and love you dedicated to our class!
